Decided to look at the Mastodon Github and see if I could figure out why it’s so slow. It jumped out at me immediately; it’s built with Ruby on Rails. Just like Twitter was in the Fail Whale days. IIRC, Twitter didn’t banish the Fail Whale until they moved off RonR….
