@MerriMayhem @ZDP189 If you’d like to see work by people doing something with similar cameras but not nearly so problematic, Susan Burnstine on Instagram shoots with home made cameras and produces amazing work. Also Graham Young of the Homemade Camera podcast has been messing with lenses lately

We used to ban Polish immigrants. And Ukrainian, Russian, etc. The Immigration Act of 1924 put strict limits on the number of Slavs allowed in, and completely banned Asians. No Vacancy. Shot last weekend with my 85 year old Contax III on 60 year old Adox KB14 (you can see the film in the second picture, and that it was made in January, 1961). Original speed of the film was ISO 25; I shot this at EI 20 and developed in Rodinal 1:50 for 9 minutes. https://t.co/gJVQ5UDk7D

@markjfine Sure were. That Olds engine was called the 350 Rocket, and damn if it didn’t feel like you were in one. The engine was originally designed for the Delta 88 before making its way down line to the Cutlass Supreme and then the Omega. (Can you tell I grew up in Detroit?)

@mholzschlag Honestly, he thought the convergence was going to be Teletext, a one way broadcasting medium that was delivered in the vertical blanking interval of TV signals (that’s the black line between frames that you would see on old TVs when the picture got out of synch)

@mholzschlag Instructor didn’t mention social aspects, but by the time I saw the web, I had been on Usenet, BBSes, Compuserve, and AOL for several years. The web didn’t seem to have the social aspect that those other things did initially. It took a while to grow into that.

I had been a student of the history of broadcasting. I was jealous of the people who got into radio in 1917, when it was the Wild West. I saw the web as my way of pioneering a new media in my own time just like the people I had been studying.

When I was in college in the early 80s, I had a course in broadcast station management. The instructor told us about the upcoming convergence of broadcasting, publishing, and computers.
