@MerriMayhem Good idea to meter with the phone, see if there’s a discrepancy. And I totally get the trauma; this stuff is not cheap. I used to get about a 50% success rate with it. After taking a class with Sam at Penumbra in NYC, that jumped to about 80%.

@MerriMayhem How old is the film? There was a batch a year or so ago where the underlying negative was faulty and should be exposed at ISO 3; Sam switched negative suppliers because of that.

@MerriMayhem 1/8 of a second seems awfully slow for a sunny day. If you think about the Sunny 16 rule, f/16 on a sunny day is 1 over the ISO of the film, so 1/400. f/22 is one stop from f/16, so 1/200. Do you have another meter you could try?

@MerriMayhem Incidentally, the underlying negative for PN400 is TMAX-400. I’m not a T-MAX fan and don’t really shoot it other than New55, but if you have any experience with it, it would apply here.

@MerriMayhem Was this with the PN400? I have five sheets of that in the basement that I shot this weekend that I was planning to develop tonight. My previous experience with it is that the prints are awfully light. I know Sam suggests shooting it at 800 ISO if you want a better print.

@feather @ppk That’s exactly what it was. I remember when Lucent launched in 1996 and their new site was done by an outside firm. The way they worked around this was to use div class=h1, etc., for every heading. I threw a fit. Funny coda: I now work for the company that did that to Lucent.
